The City of Bloomington Fire Department has chosen HealthCall to advance its Mobile Integrated Healthcare (MIH) and community paramedicine program. This program allows the MIH unit to meet patients where they are, whether at their residence, a nursing home, or on the street. Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) visit patients before or after a 911 incident to address their needs or close any gaps in care needed.
EMTs assist individuals in lowering their risk of falls, accessing treatment for mental health and substance abuse, enhancing their health, and developing skills to prevent hospital readmissions.
The MIH program successfully reduces unnecessary and repetitive 911 calls by connecting patients with more appropriate social service organizations and medical care options within the community. Since its establishment in October 2022, the program has received over 1,000 referrals and currently serves more than 88 active patients. This proactive approach not only alleviates the workload for emergency operational crews but also improves the overall quality of life for community members.
